Steve Lewis
Senior Associate Director, Employer Engagement, Graduate Center for Career Development
Steve brings a wealth of leadership experience and successful track record in both academia and industry. In his current role as the Senior Associate Director of Employer Engagement at Babson College, he is responsible for driving employment opportunities for Babson’s grad students. Prior to Babson, Steve was the Senior Director of Strategic Alliances at Northeastern University where he formulated and launched a partnership program for the College of Computer Sciences. Before Northeastern, Steve was the Assistant Director of Global Strategic Alliances at MIT’s Computer Science and AI Lab (CSAIL) where he grew memberships in the industry alliance program and managed the client relations & marketing team.
Steve’s experience as an entrepreneur in scaling businesses includes his past role as the Vice President of Business Development, Board Member and co-owner of a start-up called OpenALPR Technology Inc., a software company that developed AI/ML based license plate and vehicle recognition software that was sold to Rekor Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: REKR) in March 2019. Steve executed a growth strategy for OpenALPR to a successful exit at a valuation of 10x revenue. Prior to OpenALPR he worked for EMC Corporation leading a vertical market practice for video surveillance as a sales overlay specialist for EMC’s storage and compute products & services.
He as consulted for two non-profits, the Responsible AI Institute and AI2030.org, both organizations promoted the ethical and responsible use of AI. Steve continues to give back to entrepreneurs and the start-up community as a mentor of MIT’s Venture Mentoring Service.
Fun Fact: I’ve played bass guitar in the same band with my identical twin brother (who plays guitar) since I was a teenager.
