The company is seeking a Senior Director of Finance, a key executive leadership position responsible for the strategic and operational financial management of the company. This hands-on leader will oversee all financial functions, including accounting, financial planning, compliance, cost accounting, manufacturing finance, HR/payroll, and global supply chain finance.
This role combines high-level financial strategy with day-to-day financial operations and is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a small, fast-paced, entrepreneurial manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership

Lead overall financial strategy in alignment with company goals, reporting directly to the CEO.

Develop and manage short- and long-term financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.

Provide actionable insights, dashboards, and KPI tracking to support executive decision-making.

Participate in strategic planning, growth initiatives, and cross-functional executive leadership.
2. Financial Operations & Reporting

Oversee all accounting functions and manage current company accountant professional with responsibility for general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closings.

Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages with variance analysis.

Maintain internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance.

Lead financial statement audits, manage external auditor relationships, and coordinate audit prep.
3. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

Manage all aspects of cost accounting, including inventory valuation, overhead rates, labor tracking, and BOM updates.

Analyze product profitability and margins; support pricing decisions through gross margin and cost analysis.

Oversee standard cost updates and manufacturing order (MO) closures in ERP system.
4. E-Commerce & Multi-Channel Financial Oversight

Manage financial operations for direct-to-consumer and e-commerce channels, including payment processing, returns, tax compliance, and channel-specific profitability analysis.

Support marketing and sales teams in pricing, discounting, and promotional strategies.

Prepare detailed financial reporting by revenue stream (e.g., e-commerce, B2B, repair services).
5. Global Supply Chain & Import Finance

Oversee financial operations and risk management related to sourcing from North America, Europe, and Asia.

Monitor foreign exchange exposure and manage customs, tariffs, and international trade compliance.

Support global vendor negotiations and optimize payment terms.
6. FP&A, Budgeting, and Analysis
-
Lead the FP&A function to support strategic decisions across departments.
-
Manage working capital, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning.
-
Create financial models for new initiatives and capital investments.
7. Compliance, Tax, & Regulatory Management
-
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax laws (including import/export taxes and sales/use tax across states).

Maintain relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and compliance agencies.
-
Coordinate all filings, including annual reports, 1099s, and state/federal registrations (SAM.gov, Mass.gov).
8. Human Resources, Payroll, and Benefits

Supervise payroll, benefits administration, and HR policy implementation.

Manage vendor handling bi-weekly payroll and IRA contributions.
-
Manage relationships with insurance providers (health, dental, property, workers’ comp), including annual renewals and audits.
9. Treasury & Cash Management
-
Lead banking, cash movement, and merchant services operations.
-
Forecast cash needs and maintain daily/weekly cash dashboards.

Manage accounts receivable and payable, ensuring vendor and customer relations are optimized for cash flow and risk mitigation.
10. Financial Systems & Infrastructure
-
Oversee ERP system to integrate financial, inventory, and production data.
-
Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and reporting efficiency.
-
Drive digital transformation and automation of key financial processes.
11. Institutional, Government & Contract Oversight
-
Manage financial compliance and reporting for government, institutional, and educational clients.
-
Lead financial negotiations of B2B contracts, including pricing, net terms, and credit risk monitoring.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage a small finance and operations support team including AP, AR, payroll, and purchasing.

Provide mentorship and performance oversight to staff and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.

5-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with prior leadership experience.

Experience in manufacturing or consumer product companies with strong cost accounting knowledge.

Familiarity with e-commerce and DTC business models.

ERP and CRM system experience.
-
Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.

Demonstrated experience managing audits, compliance, and complex reporting environments.
