MBA Summer Internship – Market & Competitive Strategy (Historiq)
Are you an MBA student looking to apply your strategy skills in a high-impact, mission-driven environment? Join Historiq, a growing startup transforming how historical collections are accessed, understood, and shared.
We are seeking a highly motivated MBA intern to lead market and competitive research in the museum and cultural heritage technology space. This is a unique opportunity to shape real business strategy at an early-stage company while gaining direct exposure to accomplished leaders across education, history, and the nonprofit sector.
About Historiq
Historiq partners with leading cultural institutions to make their collections more accessible and engaging for modern audiences. Our collaborators include organizations such as Fort Ticonderoga and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, among others.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct market landscape and competitive analysis across museum and archival technology
- Identify growth opportunities, positioning strategies, and potential partnerships
- Synthesize findings into clear, actionable strategic recommendations
- Work directly with company leadership on high-priority business questions
Work Directly with Proven Leadership
You will work closely with Rob Waldron, Chairman of Curriculum Associates. As CEO for 17 years, Rob led the creation of i-Ready and scaled the company from 100 to 2,600 employees, supporting learning gains for over 14 million students nationwide. Under his leadership, the company earned repeated recognition as a top workplace by The Boston Globe and Glassdoor. His work has been recognized by Fast Company, the World Economic Forum, and Ernst & Young.
You will also work directly with Dean Serrentino, Founder & CEO of Historiq. Dean is a product and technology leader focused on building practical, high-trust tools powered by AI and data science. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of AI at Curriculum Associates, where he led AI platform product and data science engineering efforts.
Across edtech, finance, and healthcare, Dean has led cross-functional teams and delivered production systems in close partnership with domain experts—ensuring technology strengthens professional judgment rather than replacing it. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at University of Massachusetts Lowell and holds degrees in mathematics and economics from UMass Lowell and Purdue University Daniels School of Business.
As an intern, you will work closely with Dean on your core project—receiving direct mentorship, iterating on your analysis, and ensuring your work translates into real strategic decisions.
Engage with Senior Advisors
You will also have the opportunity to engage with and present to an advisory group that includes:
- Dr. Colleen J. Shogan – Former 11th Archivist of the United States
- Andrew M. Davenport – Vice President for Research and Saunders Director of the International Center for Jefferson Studies at the Thomas Jefferson Foundation
- Beth Hill – President & CEO of Fort Ticonderoga
- Michael Hill – Former research assistant to David McCullough, Author, co-producer of Ken Burns’ The Civil War
Capstone Experience
At the conclusion of the internship, you will deliver a strategic presentation to the company’s advisory board, providing direct exposure to senior leaders and the opportunity to influence real business decisions.

- Current MBA student (Boston-area programs strongly encouraged)
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
