Mindset=Momentum

January 4, 2026 by Jessica Chance

With every New Year comes a fresh start, a reset of things we want to change, or move forward. For many of you at this stage of your Babson experience, searching for a job must be front and center.  The momentum you build for your next opportunity is crucial at this time of the year. Many of you have probably seen the Grad CCD Career Compass emails. While your destination (a job after graduation) may not be in clear view yet, your career plan and mindset give you direction, and a set of next steps to land one.

What is your career plan for 2026?

Your career plan mindset should include:

Commitment
Whether it’s your very own Career Hour, or Career Day Friday, or scheduling an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, plan your career time now and protect it.

Story, Pitch, & Passion
Without an impactful career narrative and a clearly defined “why” you’re leaving hiring managers to do all the work. This leaves a poor impression and must be prioritized before applying for jobs. Start practicing your Elevator Pitch now.

Purpose
The fundamentals. A sharp, concise professional brand and resume that shows you know what you want and how you can bring that purpose to a company. If this is still incomplete, schedule an appointment with your advisor ASAP.

Confidence
Now is the time to lean into your strengths, what you’ve accomplished in class projects, and to strategize how you will share those in your LinkedIn profile, resume, and when answering interview questions. An Interview Coach will give you the feedback needed—schedule an appointment with one of our talented Interview Coaches here!

Activation
Your network. Make sure to attend Babson events that can help you make connections both on and off campus. On Engage you can find all Babson graduate events from Grad CCD, Grad Clubs, and Centers & Institutes.

Structure.
Your attention to detail for every outreach and application is paramount to an organized, focused job search. Use our job search tracker to start getting organized.

There’s a reason why during orientation we refer to this as your Action Plan. Your career plan is not a passive exercise. Just like a class assignment or group project, this is an active pursuit that companies want to see from you, the seeker.

All the best for your search in 2026 and we look forward to seeing you!
